Palace is pleased to announce a highly anticipated premiere... LOU REED BERLIN !

LOU REED BERLIN, Julian Schnabel

US, 85', 2007, VO EN ST FR/NL

Synopsis : Lou Reed and his fans have waited 33 years for the concert presented in this film. In 1973, the artist recorded "Berlin", an ambitious album that offered a surprising contrast to his album "Walk on the Wild Side". A concept album about jealousy, anger and loss, featuring the same characters from beginning to end. But at the time, the harsh reviews that greeted its release shattered any hopes Reed and his producer, Bob Ezrin, had of ever producing it live.

Now, 33 years later, they have. Julian Schnabel directed the concerts, which he filmed for five nights at St. Anna's Warehouse in New York. His daughter Lola shot the small impressionist films projected on stage to support the narrative dimension of the music. Reed, now over 60, is as cool as ever. The brilliant band is accompanied by the Brooklyn Youth Chorus. A lot of changes have been made since 1973, but the songs have gained in bottle.
