SUN SCREENS - POLYESTER WITH EDNA SORGELSENS

Go back

As part of our SUN SCREENS, Palace is delighted to present a special screening of John Waters' 1981 film POLYESTER.

This summer, the smelly adventures of an unsavoury family are back on the big screen. With its black humour, kitsch style and cast of eccentric characters, the film is considered a classic of John Waters' cinema.

Edna Sorgelsen will do us the honour of hosting this screening. A legendary figure on the Brussels drag scene, Edna Sorgelsen began her drag career "chez Maman" before moving on to "Cabaret Mademoiselle". With a terribly engaging personality, full of madness and exuberance, she loves to pass on her message to her audience.
Edna is one of the main voices on the "Amour, Drag et Courrier" podcast produced by Tipik, and on the independently produced "Boop et Edna: Le Podcast".
She also hosts the "Unique en son genre" workshops, during which she reads stories to children on themes of gender, identity and tolerance. Made a household name by her appearance on Drag Race Belgique, Edna travels around Belgium and the world bringing her daily dose of good humor to her fellow human beings.

"In this debauched mess, filmed like a trashy soap opera, Francine's drama is more burlesque and grotesque farce than Hollywood melodrama or the dolorous way of the cross of a Lars Von Trier character" - Critikat

US, 86', 1981, VO EN ST FR
