On December 28, 1895, the first screening of the Lumière Cinematograph took place. It showed a train arriving at a station, workers leaving a factory, and images of distant lands. These were silent, black-and-white clips lasting barely a minute, projecting the world onto the big screen. Very quickly, films became longer, accompanied by music and color. It was a time of moon landings, tamed dinosaurs, and train robberies. The first fiction films, the first special effects, the first cartoons, the first western: the pioneers of cinema opened up a world of possibilities. In 13 films, the program tells their story, introduces us to them, and invites us to discover these firsts.
