At the end of the 19th century, many inventors sought to develop devices for group viewing, as Edison’s kinetoscope remained a personal device with insufficient brightness. It was upon discovering this latest invention that Antoine Lumière had the idea of projecting images onto a screen for an audience.
On this occasion, we invite you to a special screening “just like in the old days”: a program of Lumière footage projected using one of the few projectors still in working order, immersing you in the atmosphere of the earliest screenings with a series of cinematograph screenings in the Hamesse foyer. The films will be screened on yellow-orange tinted 35mm film, faithful to the original format.
