To celebrate the 130th anniversary of cinema, the Palace presented the exhibition Origins of Cinema, tracing the evolution of early projection devices—from the magic lantern to the first Pathé Frères projectors, by way of the Lumière cinematograph.
The exhibition featured around sixty vintage devices, accessories, and images, drawing on the collection and encyclopedic knowledge of Jean-Pierre Verscheure, a film technology historian and regular collaborator at Le Palace.
An accompanying film program took audiences on a journey through various formats, media, silent and sound cinema, and narrative genres ranging from the simplest to the most sophisticated.
