CLUB 35

One Thursday a month, Palace offers a “cinema classic” to see or re-see on the big screen.

“Lonely are the Brave”, directed by David Miller in 1962, with a screenplay by Dalton Trumbo. Running time: 107 minutes.

A special feature of Club 35 is the presentation of films in their original version. Philip H. Lathrop’s black-and-white Panavision widescreen photography is particularly noteworthy for this film. Lathrop, creating a realistic, almost documentary-like atmosphere. The high-quality Westrex sound recording won a Motion Picture Sound Editors award. Jerry Goldsmith’s music completes the picture.

To bring out the full quality of this production, we have adjusted the Palace’s sound equipment and will be presenting a rare, almost new 35mm print, allowing you to rediscover the beauty of silver film and its role in the history of cinema.

A fitting tribute to Gena Rowlands in a touching role.

Jean-Pierre Verscheure, curator and specialist in the history of film techniques, will present this copy from his personal collection, accompanied by Belgian director and screenwriter Fabrice Du Welz.
