MASTERCLASS
One Thursday a month, Palace puts the spotlight on a film profession. In partnership with film schools, the Académie André Delvaux, the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles and mediarte.
On Thursday October 17, we’ll be delighted to welcome Michelle Beeckman to talk about her work as makeup designer on the film JULIE KEEPS QUIET. The masterclass will be preceded by a screening of the film, and the meeting will take place in English.
Michelle Beeckman, born in 1991, has been working as a makeup artist for 12 years and as a designer for film and television for 7 years.
She began her education at Sint Lucas School of Arts and continued with a bachelor’s degree in Audiovisual Arts at RITSC. After that, she moved to Sydney, Australia, to study film makeup for two years.
At the Australian College of Makeup and Special Effects, she had the opportunity to work on major films such as Mad Max and Gods of Egypt, as well as on short films and television series.
She believes that as a makeup artist, it is essential to be a storyteller. Both the actor and the director rely on her to create the character and to follow its development throughout the story.
Her background in film, which she acquired before starting in makeup, gave her a significant advantage at the beginning of her career.
Today, she lives in Ghent and works as a freelance artist on both Belgian and international productions.
