Synopsis : In a disused Buenos Aires prison, a group of cisgender and transgender women re-enact memories of their incarceration, playing themselves or other inmates and guards. The resulting short stories, sometimes sad (break-ups, arrests) sometimes joyful (marriages, deep friendships), form a moving mosaic of women's lives in prison, while highlighting the singularity of each experience: it's a question of alienation, solidarity and emancipation in an oppressive prison universe. Between two reconstructions, Reas stages her characters' stories through musical comedy scenes, choreographed in a sensitive and intimate way that never leaves the characters and their feelings behind. Far from being a simple recourse to lightness, these sequences illustrate the possible emancipation of bodies, enabling the characters to free themselves from the weight of their traumas. In this way, the directors transform incarceration into a place where women, through their voices and bodies, create a space for reconciliation, dignity and resilience.

REAS is a collective work that reinvents the musical genre: the performers relive their life as fiction, and invent, through fantasy and imagination, a possible future for themselves.
