SUN SCREENS

From July 1 to August 23, Palace presents the fifth edition of Sun Screens, its summer program. In addition to its regular weekly schedule, the cinema will showcase restored classics, premieres, repertory screenings, and special events.

The opening weekend immediately sets the tone with La Cérémonie by Claude Chabrol, the launch of a focus on Ingmar Bergman (Summer with Monika and Persona), the premiere of Soulèvements in the presence of the director, and a screening of Chaplin’s timeless satire The Great Dictator.

This edition revolves around two major themes: a critique of the bourgeois class and a reflection on power and manipulation.

The release of Ildikó Enyedi’s remarkable film Silent Friend provides an opportunity to rediscover her body of work. Alongside her more recent films, On Body and Soul (winner of the Golden Bear in 2017) and The Story of My Wife, we will screen her first feature film, My Twentieth Century, which won the Caméra d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 1989.

Finally, we invite you to explore the work of Ingmar Bergman through four of his films presented in beautifully restored versions: Summer with Monika, The Seventh Seal, Persona, and Wild Strawberries.
