La Chouette du cinéma has gathered several short films centered around the Big Bad Wolf in the program LOUPS TENDRES ET LOUFOQUES. Through humor and poetry, it revisits this classic character from fairy tales and children's books, encouraging little ones aged 3 and up to see him in a whole new light...
Big? Bad? Really? Not at all! The six short films in this program offer a humorous twist on the wolf's image, stepping far away from the scary character of traditional fairy tales. Here, the wolf is by turns pretentious and ridiculous, tender, clumsy, funny, and even deeply relatable. For instance, in C’est moi le plus fort (adapted from Mario Ramos's picture book), our somewhat vain wolf constantly needs to hear the characters he meets confirm that he is indeed the strongest… though they obviously think otherwise! Could he be lacking a little self-confidence?
In Trop petit loup, a little wolf cub overestimates his own strength and pays the price for having too much self-assurance!
Some of these stories are adapted from children's picture books, while others are original screenplays inspired by traditional tales.
It is also worth noting that the filmmakers behind these six shorts used a variety of animation techniques to create distinct visual universes.
