Sun Screens 2026

01.07.2026 > 23.08.2026

For this 5th edition of Sun Screens, two thematic threads naturally emerged: on the one hand, the dismantling of the bourgeoisie, and on the other, an exploration of power and manipulation.

Taking advantage of the release of Karim Aïnouz’s Rosebush Pruning—a unique, pop, and trash remake of Marco Bellocchio’s Fists in the Pocket (I pugni in tasca) that tears into a certain elite—we invite you to rediscover Claude Chabrol’s La Cérémonie, Antoine Cuypers’ Prejudice (Préjudice), Park Chan-wook’s The Handmaiden, Thomas Vinterberg’s Festen, as well as Luis Buñuel’s Belle de Jour and The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie.

The world of cinema itself will also be called into question through the eyes of Amin, the protagonist of Mektoub, My Love, who serves as Abdellatif Kechiche’s cinematic alter ego. Shot over ten years ago and edited separately, the two chapters presented here stand as testaments to an era before and after #MeToo.

Echoing Raoul Peck’s astounding Orwell: 2+2=5, as well as the capricious manipulations of divine figures, an eclectic selection of titles will allow you to question authority: Stanley Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove and Paths of Glory, Michael Radford’s 1984, and Animal Farm, the great animated classic by Joy Batchelor and John Halas. It will also be an opportunity for some entertaining escapism with Charlie Chaplin’s The Great Dictator, Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds, and Yorgos Lanthimos’s The Favourite.

The release of Ildikó Enyedi’s dazzling Silent Friend will provide a chance to look back at her filmography. Alongside her most recent works, On Body and Soul (Golden Bear in 2017) and The Story of My Wife, you will be able to discover her debut feature, My 20th Century, which won the Caméra d’Or at Cannes in 1989.

Finally, we invite you to explore the cinema of Ingmar Bergman through four iconic titles from his filmography in magnificent restored versions: Summer with Monika, The Seventh Seal, Persona, and Wild Strawberries.
